2007 Events

Charity Run & Visit to the Johore Flood Victims [9th February 2007]

  • When the school heard of the plight of the Johore flood victims earlier in the year, they immediately organised a charity run
  • We raised RM 20,000 with the support of the Head Office, ALFA International College, Sekolah Seri Cahaya and TV3. Some of our former students came back to support too
  • In his speech, the CEO, Sim Quan Seng expressed satisfaction on behalf of two other Directors, Ee Ching Wah and Ng Yee Hing, in the school's effort. This truly reflected what the school did in supporting the Group's work culture of:
  • "Making This World a Better Place"

  • On the 14th February, the school chartered a bus with an entourage of 40, comprising of, students from Sek Seri Suria, Seri Cahaya, Alif College together with the CEO [and his lovely wife], a Director and Management staff, visited affected areas and schools
  • The 4 schools nominated by the Johore State Education Department received RM5,000 each during this trips. In addition to the cash, the schools were given schoolbags, pencils, T-shirts and tumblers. One can see the emotion of gratitude in the receipients' faces
  • Apart from sharing and caring, it was a trip in experiential learning for the students

20th Anniversary Charity Drive [9th February]

  • On the same day as the Cross-country run, cheques were presented to 4 charity organisations from the money raised in last years, 20th Anniversary Charity Drive
  • A total of RM 60,000 was raised in 2006. Thanks to all who supported this cause, especially the students, parents, teachers, staff and management members
  • Recipients are:
    - Mercy Malaysia
    - World Vision Malaysia Bhd
    - Selangor & FT Association for Retarded Children
    - Assunta Children Society
  • The CEO and Directors shared the passion of these organisations in doing deeds of charity
  • At the close of the ceremony, Ms Francisca Peter, the Ambassador for World Vision gave an enlightening speech thanking and encouraging students for their acts of love. The veteran songbird aptly mesmerised the audience with her rendition of 'Setia'
  • The event was covered by members of the press, namely, The Star, TV3 and RTM1
