On Saturday 8th of May 2010, Sekolah Seri Suria held their annual REAL Excellence Awards. This event aims to reward students as well as teachers in recognition of their hard work and stellar achievements in both the academic and extra-curricular field. In the process, these outstanding individuals have also enhanced the Sekolah Seri Suria name and made the school very proud.
The programme began at approximately 9.30am with the arrival of VIP guests, parents and award winners at the school’s Hall of Character. The event proper then commenced at 10am, with the singing of ‘Negaraku’, followed by the opening performance made up of a stirring piano recital and a fine rendition of ‘Greatest Love of All’. However, during the interval in between these two presentations, there was a solo singing performance called “Don’t Rain on My Parade”. The final performance of the day went to the ‘Kinesthetic Kids’, who wowed the audience with their captivating balancing act and skilful acrobatic moves.
The final awards for the day however, were the special ECA Awards and the prestigious Merit Award. The ECA Awards are given out to students who have excelled in various extra-curricular activities, be in the field of sports, music or uniform bodies. This year’s recipients were Jeremy Ng Jian Hao (Senior SSS student who is a multiple MSSS swimming gold medalist) & Mohamad Afif Bin Haji Mohamad Fatih (Junior SSS student who is a MSSS medalist in both golf and judo). Both are very promising sportspersons indeed.
